Frank Breslin, Dean

Frank Breslin has been a Leader in Transportation and Logistics for over 40 years and has extensive hands-on experience with all modes of Transportation. During his career Frank has been a catalyst in the emergence of leading-edge concepts and processes throughout the United States relative to strategies, vision, dynamic opportunities...as well as proven results and implementation of customer-focused technologies and distribution systems. During Frank’s career with Scott Paper Company he rose from Analyst to the Corporate position of Vice President - Transportation and Distribution for this $6 billion dollar world-wide organization. During this time he represented Scott Paper on the Transportation Committee of the American Paper Institute, the National Freight Transportation Association, the Grocery Manufacturers of America and was Chairman of the Transportation Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he held key roles in Production Planning, Sales Forecasting, Inventory Management, Human Resources, Customer Service, and Corporate Organizational processes relating to the value-adding flow of goods and work. Frank holds an Interstate Commerce Commission Law Certification, as well as a B.S. Degree from La Salle University, Philadelphia, PA, and an MBA from Widener University, Chester, PA. He also attended Columbia Graduate School’s Executive Program in Business Logistics and Transportation, Princeton University’s Executive Programs in International Logistics, as well as Clemson University’s Productivity Seminars on Distribution Optimization. He is a graduate of The Academy of Advanced Traffic (now known as the Institute of Logistical Management). Frank was a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin’s Executive Transportation Management Program in addition to being a guest speaker for numerous organizations, including a presentation on Transportation Legislative Hearings to a U.S. Senate Sub-Committee. Subsequently, Frank provided consultative service to Schneider Logistics, Green Bay, Wisconsin to assist in the dynamic growth of their 3rd party logistics concepts, and to insure the complete aspects of customer-focus are paramount in all supply-side services. Frank served on the executive staff of Greenbrier Logistics, Portland, Oregon, interacting with numerous customers and carriers in diverse industries throughout North America. In recent years, Frank joined with RAS Associates International in a Strategic Alliance to promote a seamless worldwide infrastructure of supply chain process evaluation and integration, and has also accepted an invitation to serve on The Council of Advisors of Gerson Lehrman Group, an independent research firm serving the world’s most prestigious investment and security managers. Frank has been Dean of the Institute of Logistical Management since March 1998.

Kenneth B. Ackerman

Burlington, NJ-January, 2005 -Kenneth B. Ackerman has accepted an Honorary role on the Faculty of the Institute of Logistical Management (ILM), the successor to the Academy of AdvancedTraffic which was founded in 1923. Since that time, ILM (and the Academy) have graduated over 85,000 Students and currently has students on 5 Continents worldwide. Ken Ackerman has been active in logistics and warehousing management for his entire career. Before entering the consulting field, he was chief executive of Distribution Centers, Inc., a public warehousing company which is now part of Exel Logistics USA. Subsequently, Ackerman sold the company and joined the management consulting division of Coopers & Lybrand. In 1981, he formed the Ackerman Company, a management advisory service. He is editor and publisher of Warehousing Forum, a monthly subscription newsletter. His newest book, Auditing Warehouse Performance, was published in October 2003. Warehousing Tips was published in October 2001. Warehousing Profitably – An Update was published in 2000 and is a recognized reference work. He also produced an audio tape which contains highlights from Warehousing Profitably. Words of Warehousing, a glossary of the terms used in the field, is the only book of its kind in print today. He is co-author of Warehousing Fundamentals, a self-study program for managers. Harvard Business Review published an article, "Making Warehousing More Efficient", co-authored by Bernard J. La Londe. His by-lined article "Just-in-Time, Right for Retail" was published in The New York Times. He is the author of numerous other articles dealing with warehousing and management. Ken has the following educational and professional credentials: * B.A., Princeton University * M.B.A., Harvard University * Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals- Past President * Warehousing Education and Research Council - Founder Ken has provided management advisory services to companies throughout the world. In 2002, Ken Ackerman was honored by Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) with a lifetime membership. He is the first person ever to receive similar recognition from three different organizations: CSCMP, IWLA and WERC. He received the Distinguished Service and Leadership Award in 1999 from International Warehouse Logistics Association and had earlier received the Distinguished Service Award from Council of Logistics Management. He is an honorary life member of the Ohio Warehousemen's Association and a former director of American Warehouse Association. The Institute of Logistical Management is truly honored to have Ken Ackerman affiliated with ILM, reflecting his total capabilities as a consummate professional and an individual of the highest integrity.

Richard Armstrong

Richard Armstrong is a third-party logistics expert who specializes in supply chain evaluation and outsourcing. Dick is co-editor and publisher of “Who’s Who In Logistics? Armstrong’s Guide to Global Supply Chain Management” and is president of Armstrong & Associates, Inc., Stoughton, Wisconsin. His firm provides services in tactical and strategic supply chain management, acquisition, business planning and contracting. His publication, “Who’s Who In Logistics,” complements his logistics consulting activities by providing an ongoing database of business leaders and their companies’ capabilities in the $130 Billion 3 PL Industry in the U.S. Dick holds a B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University and did his graduate work at UCLA. He has lectured for several undergraduate and graduate programs, including the University of Wisconsin’s nationally recognized Transportation Center in Madison, Wisconsin. His featured articles and numerous publications on third-party logistics, transportation and warehousing over the past two decades have been widely circulated domestically and internationally. Dick has been a regular speaker for organizations such as the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), American Trucking Association, National Industrial Traffic League, Transport Brokers of America, Warehouse Education and Research Council and numerous other leading associations. Dick has over 30 years experience as a consultant, educator, and motor carrier executive. He is licensed to practice before the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC). Dick has been a professional advocate of the goals and strategies of the Institute of Logistical Management for many years, and we are privileged to have him join our faculty.

Robert A Schirmer, Ph.D

Current Deputy Director of SupplyChain Management Systems (SCMS), a government sponsored organization created to distribute antiretrovirals medicine to 17 needy countries. Prior to this responsibility Bob was president of RAS Associates International, Inc. (RAS). He established RAS in 1991, following a 25-year career at the DuPont Company. In the RAS organization he coordinates the efforts of the Principal Directors, Associates, Alliances and general operations. Bob developed a proprietary process for evaluating the efficiency of a company’s functional areas of SupplyChain operation. Major accounts include Crompton, Uniroyal, Glaxo Welcome, Estee Lauder, DuPont Chemical and Pharmaceuticals, Blockbuster and Nippon. He has served as Director of Logistics and Quality at Philips/DuPont Optical, a joint venture between Philips in Holland and DuPont in the U.S. Bob has a B.S. Degree from Drexel University, an MBA from Wilmington College and a PhD. in International SupplyChain and Econometrics from Pacific Western University. Bob is a member of the National and Regional Council of Logistics Management (Board member), the American Society for Quality Control and the American Management Association. At Wilmington College he is an adjunct professor. He also teaches at Penn State University and Phoenix University and is on the Faculty of the Institute of Logistical Management and Erasmus University in Holland. He is active in the U.S. Government’s “America’s Promise” for this nation’s youth. He was Director of the Lupus foundation for Delaware and Pennsylvania. Hobbies include: tennis, basketball, cycling, historic novels and presidential studies. Bob joined the Faculty of the Institute of Logistical Management in 2000, and has authored several courses in SupplyChain Management.

Emmett O'Hare, Ph.D.

Professor Emmett O'Hare, A.A.E., Ph.D. has been involved extensively in all areas of Transportation and Logistics for over 30 years. He commanded major logistics units for the Army Materiel Command and the Defense Logistics Agency overseeing the deployment of military personnel to support contingency operations worldwide. He personally deployed on multiple occasions to manage logistics and transportation operations. As a member of the Army Reserve, COL O'Hare directed ship loading and seaport operations around the world. He recently retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other awards and campaign ribbons for service in Viet Nam, Desert Storm, Bosnia, and the war on terrorism. He is a decorated combat veteran who has commanded troops at the Battalion and Brigade level. Col. O'Hare was recalled to active duty at the Pentagon during the U.S. Military Operations in Iraq and Afghanastan. Dr. O'Hare's background includes work in the government sector as a State Aviation Director. His responsibilities included the licensing and oversight of over 600 aeronautical facilities and all aviation activities as well as the management of a $25 million capital program budget. Dr. O'Hare has over 15 years of experience as a college professor, and is currently a faculty advisor for Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey. He was the first Department Chairman for the Aviation Management Department at St. Francis College. He has also taught at the Long Island University Graduate School of Public Administration. In his new role as Director of Worldwide Military Programs and Faculty Member for the Institute of Logistical Management, Dr. O'Hare will focus on communicating ILM's overall supply and logistics programs available to all Military personnel worldwide, all of which are recognized by DANTES for tuition assistance.

John F. Christman

John has served in a variety of operational and management positions with the Eastman Kodak Company including an Export Licensing Specialist, Hazardous Materials Transportation Analyst, Manager, DOT/HSE Compliance and Worldwide Manager, Hazardous Materials. John has over 35 years experience in the logistics field with the Eastman Kodak Company. During his time at Kodak John started as an Export Licensing Specialist where he was responsible for developing Kodak’s U.S.-Canadian Free Trade Agreement Program. As a Hazardous Materials Transportation Analyst , he helped develop and deliver a wide range of hazardous materials training programs required under (HM 126-F) which included everything from General Awareness to specialized programs like Cargo Tank, Rail and U.S. Military Airlift of Hazardous Materials. He also managed the company’s private transportation fleet which consisted of 300 drivers and over 350 commercial vehicles for compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) as well as OSHA compliance. He managed the worldwide shipment of hazardous materials by all modes of transportation. During his time in that position he developed an excellent relationship with all governing regulatory agencies both domestic and international, and received superior compliance audits from the U.S. Federal Government and countries worldwide. John has authored many training manuals during his career. He has substantial, successful experience and expertise in all nine hazard classes. John is a certified graduate of the Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) in Oklahoma City conducted by The Department of Transportation (DOT). He is a graduate of The Institute of Logistical Management as a Certified Logistics Practitioner (CLP). He has an A.S. in Transportation from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York. As well, he is a member of the Advisory Board of efleetmgmt, active in the Rochester Business Alliance Transportation Council, and the Fleet Safety Council of Upstate New York. John takes great pride in the integrity and ethics he has brought to the transportation industry and the major contribution he has made to the protection of employee and citizen health and safety and prevention of environmental incidents in the safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials. Paul C. Kovarovic

Paul has joined the Faculty of ILM as Director, Government Programs. Paul will lead our Marketing strategies and implementation for delivering ILM’s Distance Learning and Online Logistics Educational programs to all Military, Governmental and Sub-Contractors at the Federal, State and local levels. ILM is honored to have Paul join our Accredited School. Paul has held numerous leadership and executive level positions in his Military and Civilian careers. After serving 10 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Logistics and Supply Chain Officer, Paul distinguished himself as a “change agent” in participation with several Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 Organizations by strategically focusing on Logistics Solutions all the way through to Implementation. In recent years, Paul has created his own Logistics education and training organization to provide critical knowledge and skills to senior level executive audiences, including General Officers and Cabinet-Level appointees. The breadth and scope of Paul’s vision includes all Logistics and Supply Chain processes, technology and information, to achieve total cost effectiveness and superior customer service. Leon (Bud) Cohan

Bud currently teaches Warehouse Management and Export Shipping in the Logistics Technology Department at Columbus State Community College. He has over 25 years of professional and practical experience in logistics and physical distribution from holding executive level positions in the Food/Grocery Industry. Prior to teaching and serving in key positions in the Food/Grocery Industry, Bud served in the U.S. Marine Corps from where he retired in the early 70's. While in the Marines, Bud taught at The Basic School, Quantico, VA, as well as at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL. Bud has authored many technical papers, essays, and made numerous contributions to Trade Journals relative to Warehousing, Shipping, OSHA Requirements, as well as personally authored a text called Lift Truck Fleet Management and Operator Training. Bud is a graduate of Ohio State University (BA) and attended Capital University's MBA Program. In 2000, Bud joined the Faculty of The Institute of Logistical Management and is the Institute's professional and technical leader relative to our course in Warehousing Management. More recently, Bud passed the NASBITE Examination entitling him to add "Global Business Professional" to his numerous credentials.

Michael B. Stroh, CTL

Mike has been a logistics practitioner since 1979. He has served in a variety of operational and administrative positions in a diverse range of Industries including wearing apparel, footwear, automotive, machinery, metals and hazardous chemicals. His titles have included Global Logistics Manager, Transportation Manager and Purchasing Manager. He is a graduate of the Academy of Advanced Traffic (now known as The Institute of Logistical Management.) He has a B.S. in Transportation from St. John's University, New York and an M.B.A. in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. As well, he is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, SOLE – The International Society of Logistics, and a Certified member of the American Society of Transportation & Logistics. Currently, he is President of The Logistics Network, Inc., a logistics consulting firm. He is the author of A Practical Guide to Transportation and Logistics, has been a contributor to Traffic World magazine, and has taught International Trade and Transportation. Mike conceptualized, developed and operates the logistics information website logisticsnetwork.com. Michael joined the Faculty of the Institute of Logistical Management in 2002 and has made significant contributions to the Logistical Education process through his professional experience as well as expertise in Online Training and Education.

Walter WeartWeart

Wally has more than 35 years of Logistics experience, holding key management positions with both manufacturers and transportation companies, and was the Founder of WLG, Inc., a Transportation consulting firm. Wally was National Sales Manager of the 4th largest “reefer” carrier in the U.S., and held the position of Vice-President and Sales for a national consumer goods carrier; he also served as Director of Commerce for the Great Western Railway. Additionally, Wally held a senior level position with Continental Can Corporation, providing leadership and direction to their national distribution network. . . . . Wally was also a team leader for the Rand McNally Co., where he distinguished himself in developing the first computerized mileage and freight bill rating management system within the United States. As a Journalist and Educator, Wally held the position of Chicago Bureau Chief for Traffic World Magazine, and Editor for Distribution Magazine, two of the leading Trade Journals in the Transportation/Logistics Industry. As an Educational contributor, Wally led the work to review, revise, upgrade and complete the highly acclaimed text, Transportation, 5th Edition, which is one of the premier college transportation texts in use at the undergraduate level in the U.S. today. Over 200 articles and publications have appeared under Wally’s byline, including Inbound Logistics, Progressive Railroading, Traffic World, and numerous other prestigious Trade Journals. Wally earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Elmhurst College, and is a candidate for a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He has lectured at three Midwest Community Colleges, and at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He has conducted numerous Seminars throughout North America covering a wide range of Transportation and Logistics issues, including development and teaching of a program on Rail Management for the University of Wisconsin’s Management Institute. More recently, Wally accepted a Leadership position within the Department of Transportation, Washington D.C., where he provides valued insight on Strategic Transportation matters and overall Policy. During 2000, Wally joined the Faculty of The Institute of Logistical Management where he has already achieved significant contributions to current and future program development. In fact, Wally wrote ILM’s revised text for Motor Carrier Operations and was part of the ILM team that developed a new course for Motor Carriers.

Rich Kuzy

The Institute of Logistical Management (ILM) is pleased to announce that Mr. Richard Kuzy, MS, has joined the Institute to enable us to expand our marketing and our operational presence in the SupplyChain and Project Management channel of overall Logistics and Distribution. Rich’s extensive background has played key roles in the success of SupplyChain Management on a Senior Consultant Basis with numerous clients including Nabisco Foods, Ryder Systems, Con Agra Foods, Whirlpool Corporation and Managing Director of a major Logistics Management Group, on a worldwide basis. In addition to his noteworthy Educational and Professional accomplishments, Rich has been a leader in SupplyChain organizations such as Project Management Institute (PMI), Council of SupplyChain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and has distinguished himself on the Advisory Board of ILM for several years. Brent Wm. Primus, J.D.Primus

Brent Primus is currently the C.E.O. of Primus Law Office, P.A. He attended college at Lawrence University where he majored in philosophy. Upon graduation from Lawrence in 1968, Brent served two years with the American Peace Corps as an agricultural extension agent in rural India. Brent received his Juris Doctorate in 1973 form the University of Minnesota Law School. Since then Brent has been with the Primus Law Office P.A. Over the years he has represented clients in virtually all types of legal matters. He has also lectured and presented seminars to local and national organizations on litigation and transportation topics. Brent has had extensive experience litigating matters in State District Court, Probate Court, Federal District Courts, U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and State and Federal Administrative Agencies. Brent was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1973, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota 1974, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1993 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1994. Brent was a friend and professional colleague of Bill Augello, our esteemed lawyer and faculty member for many years at ILM. Before Bill passed away, he specifically recommended Brent to carry on the work Bill had performed. Additionally, Brent is CEO and Senior Editor of transport law texts, inc., General Council of Freight Transportation Consultants, and has joined the Institute of Logistical Management as Faculty Member.
